The Praxis Ecology is a web based course aimed at community builders, secular monks, and spiritual cooks seeking to create dynamic, supportive spaces for the Second Renaissance. This course proposes a way of living together inspired by the Zen temples daily life, offering those who wish it a structured community life.
Teacher Valérie Duvauchelle has updated ancient traditions for secular spaces as an “ecology of practices.” The unique 3 month course design allows exploration of the collective systemic while respecting each individual’s autonomy. Her Praxis Ecology is articulated around 5 pillars presented in the course Ecology of Practices for Conscious Communities.

Praxis Ecology Course
How do we design collective systems that embrace the trouble we are in?
Are you sitting in the dissonance of wanting to succeed in creating a new way of living together, different from the old world, but still rooted and realistic in the present moment?
Questioning what and where adjusted action takes root requires intention to prevent the replication of old patterns and to open new possibilities. It isn’t about simply reacting to the problem(s) but about bearing witness to the mess, taking deliberate action, and adapting.
Through basic observation, we ask what foundational premises are necessary to design resilient collective frameworks that cultivate bearing witness and birthing new ways of acting. This allows us to respond to the mess rather than solving it all while cultivating a peaceful life.
Who benefits from this course?
The Praxis Ecology Course is a pragmatic and useful program for community builders, focused on how to build your own collective system adapted to your unique community situation. This can apply to groups of 5-50 people who attend a one-week retreat, a three-day gathering, a three-month co-living experience, or continuous co-living.
More About Valérie Duvauchelle
After running the Riverside Hub for over 5 years (and other co-living spaces before that), experiencing all the beauty and the grief of building community, and fine-tuning our secular monastic approach, Valérie Duvauchelle has developed the Praxis Ecology Course for community builders seeking guidance on how to build their own conscious communities.
Valérie Duvauchelle blends her experience in monasteries and the Riverside Hub into a robust course with 6 online sessions taking place over 3 months. She will be sharing a framework to help you discover and build the practices to turn your community’s values into action.
