We’re looking for people who may one day work with us – or in the broader field of inner-led social change. To that end, we offer a three-month Practicum at our Life Itself Hub in southwest France. Participants receive full room and board and, in exchange, contribute approximately 20 hours per week to Life Itself’s ongoing projects and initiatives.
The work is varied: it could include research, communications, community coordination, coding, admin, or land stewardship tasks – depending on experience, interest, and organisational needs. Meanwhile, you’ll be living in a conscious co-living community—learning practical and interpersonal skills, experiencing purpose-driven work, and exploring whether this kind of life and collaboration is right for you.
You’ll receive mentorship from members of the team, be part of a meaningful rhythm of collective life, and—if it’s a good fit—this may be a step toward longer-term involvement. At its heart, it’s not just a placement—it’s a practice ground for living and serving with integrity.
Key Information
What: A three-month practicum at the Life Itself Hub in southwest France. Participants are fed and lodged, and in exchange contribute around 20 hours per week to Life Itself projects. You will also participate fully in the Autumn Praxis Residency for free and assume the regular community responsibilities involved on top of your work with Life Itself (roughly 7 hours per week for collective care and community circles).

Is this a job, training, or internship?
It has elements of all three and is distinct from any one of them on their own.
We are inviting people into a three-month immersive experience at one of Life Itself’s hubs, where you live in community and contribute roughly 20 hours per week in service. That might include helping with communications, coordination, events, land and building maintenance, or other hands-on tasks needed to sustain Life Itself.
This is not a conventional job or internship – we expect more self-management, initiative, and presence than most internships would require. Nor is it a training programme, though you’ll almost certainly learn and grow a lot. You’ll be surrounded by people with experience in community living, regenerative culture, practical spirituality, and mission-driven work. A good part of your learning will happen through doing, observing, and reflecting.
We see this as a practicum of service where your contribution supports Life Itself, and in return you are have a place to live and given a context to develop skills, inner and outer, that are key for a new paradigm. It’s also a try-out for any future collaboration.
Is room and board provided?
Yes, as part of the practicum you will be provided with accommodation and food at “Riverside”, the Life Itself Praxis Hub in Bergerac, France. The participation fee for the Autumn Praxis Residency will also be covered. Participants cover their own travel costs.
Can I participate for less than the full time (e.g. I may have visa limitations)?
We’re open to considering shorter participation e.g. 2 months rather than 3. Please indicate in your application if this is the case.
What kind of work will I be doing?
The work is varied: it could include activities like communications, community coordination, admin, building or land maintenance, coding or research – depending on skillset, interest, and organisational needs.
Please note that the work involved will be for Life Itself, the broader collective which runs various initiatives and projects (including conscious community Hubs such as the Praxis Hub in Bergerac) — and not necessarily directly related to the Bergerac Praxis Hub. Do I have to live in Bergerac for the whole duration of the practicum?
Yes, participants will be based in Bergerac for the duration of the practicum. Small trips away may be possible. Candidates are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary visas or residence permits to participate.
What is it like to live at the Life Itself Praxis Hub in Bergerac?
