New Paper: Wisdom and Wanting What's Good
Written by Rufus Pollock and Rosie Bell
What happens to wisdom in a system that values quantifiable decision-making?
Our power to shape the world is growing faster than our ability to use it well, and the authors call this phenomenon the “wisdom gap.” In the new paper, Wisdom and Wanting What’s Good, Rufus Pollock and Rosie Bell argue that we haven’t lost our inner compass that senses what truly matters, only forgotten how to trust it. From architecture to democracy, they explore how we might bring collective wisdom back into our decision-making.

A roundtable discussion with the paper's authors and invited guests.
Why has modern society grown so distrustful of wisdom and intuitive judgement?
Can we sense what’s good, and can we trust that sense?
Where does our collective will fail, even when we know what to do?
How might societies recognize and empower wise decision-makers?
Bring questions and your sense of where wisdom is most needed now.
