We’re excited to announce that the Second Renaissance Forum is now live and open for contributions!

We’re inspired by forums like LessWrong, which have made a success of generating and spreading original ideas in an informal, collaborative, and non-academic context.

We invite you to contribute and help us to build an interactive platform designed to share and discuss ideas.

Forums provide a space for sharing ideas, discussing topics, and connecting with like-minded people—making them ideal for deep conversations and collaborative learning. They’re easier to follow than WhatsApp threads, and discussions can be built upon and revisited over time.

We’d love to see posts with original ideas relating to the paradigmatic cultural and society (re)birth we call the ‘Second Renaissance’—a response to the breakdown of modernity and its crises, a period of transition and awakening, and the emergence of a growing ecosystem of people and organizations driving change. Long-form ‘blog’-style posts (including cross-posts from elsewhere) are especially welcome.

We hope the forum will be a way for members to:

📚 LEARN - Through expanding your understanding of wisdom, inner growth, and cultural evolution by reading others' contributions and refining your own thoughts.

🤝 CONNECT - We hope that engaging with others on the forum will be a first step towards creating in-person connections, to support this we also have a section highlighting events to help bring these conversations to life.

🌱 SEED - Paradigmatic social change will likely happen gradually as new ideas and memes spread through society. Examples like LessWrong, which served to disseminate theories of AI risk, show that forums can be a critical way to expose interested newcomers to new ideas and in turn, broadcast them into the world.

How to get started?

Head over to https://forum.secondrenaissance.net/ - you’ll see an item titled First Steps for New Members on the right hand side.

You can then choose to either set up your profile, create an Intro Post in the ‘Welcome’ category, get to know the community by browsing discussions, contributing your own persepctive by commenting, asking questions, or creating a new post in the relevant category.

If you have any questions that you don’t want to post publicly on the forum, you can reach out to us via forum@lifeitself.org
